Information about Cancelling Enrollment
You are strongly encouraged to contact the Dean of Students Office if you are having problems with your health, a family emergency, inadequate finances, or other unusual circumstances so that we may have an opportunity to be of assistance. Your education is important, and we would like the opportunity to help keep you on track. Because you are at a distance, you may be more comfortable contacting your academic advisor at DDP before you make your final decision.
Cancelling enrollment or reducing course load may affect the following:
- Financial Aid - Cancelling your enrollment may affect your satisfactory academic progress and your ability to obtain financial aid in the future. Be sure to speak with a financial aid officer to learn how this will affect your financial aid status.
- Optional Student Health Insurance – If you have questions, contact the WSU Benefit Services office at 509-335-1759 or visit their web site at http://www.wsu.edu/benefits/studentins/index.htm.
Academic Term of Cancellation
Students who receive their academic advising through DDP, or students who are enrolled in courses only through DDP, should cancel with DDP.

- Once the summer semester begins, students may cancel through the end of the third week of the 12-week semester (or according to a prorated schedule for shorter academic terms) which will result in a student’s transcript being marked withdrew (date). Individual courses will not be recorded.
- Cancelling enrollment after the third week of summer semester through the last day of instruction (end of the 12th week) will result in the transcript being marked Withdrew (date), and a grade of W will be recorded for each course.
- Students may cancel prior to the first day of class by simply going to myWSU/Academics/Register
- Cancelling enrollment during the first four weeks of the semester (or according to a prorated schedule for shorter academic terms) will result in a student’s transcript being marked Withdrew (date). Individual courses will not be recorded.

Completing the Cancellation Process
Students who wish to cancel enrollment must fill out an online Cancellation of Enrollment form, using their network I.D. and password. Students experiencing technical problems should contact DDP at 800-222-4978 or send an email message to distance@wsu.edu. Students who do not know their network I.D. and password should contact DDP to discuss other arrangements for completing the form. Students are not required to have a special reason to cancel enrollment; however, there might be alternatives that should be considered before making this decision.
Students on academic probation during the semester in which they cancel enrollment must obtain permission from the Student Advising and Learning Center (509 335-6000) to re-enroll. Because you are at a distance, you may be more comfortable contacting your academic advisor at DDP before you contact SALC.
