Information about Cancelling Enrollment
You are strongly encouraged to contact a member of the WSU Vancouver student services staff or your academic coordinator if you are having problems with your health, a family emergency, inadequate finances, or other unusual circumstances so that we may have an opportunity to be of assistance. Your education is important, and we would like the opportunity to help keep you on track toward completing your degree. Please call 360-546-9559 or stop by the Office of Student Services (VSSC 100) to talk with a member of the student services staff or you may contact your academic coordinator directly.
Cancelling enrollment or reducing course load may affect the following:
- Financial Aid - Cancelling your enrollment may affect your satisfactory academic progress and your ability to obtain financial aid in the future. Be sure to speak with a financial aid representative to learn how this will affect your financial aid status.
- Personal Health Insurance – We urge you to contact your health insurance provide to find out how your coverage is affected if you are no longer a student.
- Optional Student Health Insurance – If you have questions, contact the WSU Benefit Services office at 509-335-1759 or visit their web site at www.wsu.edu/benefits/studentins/index.htm.
- Graduate students – If you cancel your enrollment during your first semester, you will need to reapply to the graduate school before returning.
To cancel your enrollment you must fill out an online Cancellation of Enrollment form. You will need to know your network I.D. and password. If you experience technical problems contact the Registrar's Office at 360-546-9565 or 360-546-9553 or send an email message to registrar@vancouver.wsu.edu. You are not required to have a special reason to cancel your enrollment. However, there may be alternatives that should be considered before making this decision and we encourage undergraduate students to discuss all options with their academic coordinator prior to cancelling. Graduate students should consult with their faculty advisor or major department contact before completing the cancellation process.
Enrollment may be cancelled at any time during the current semester, through the last day of instruction.
Cancelling enrollment during the first 30 calendar days of the semester (or according to a prorated schedule for shorter academic terms like summer session) will result in a student’s transcript being marked “withdrew (date).” Individual courses will not be recorded.
Cancelling enrollment after the fourth week through the last day of instruction (end of the 15th week) will result in the transcript being marked “withdrew (date),” and a grade of “W” will be recorded for each course.
If you are on academic probation during the semester in which you cancel your enrollment, you must obtain permission from your academic coordinator to re-enroll at WSU Vancouver in a future semester.
